Sanjay Kucheria
(moderator)
President, Trinus Corp.
Sanjay Kucheria is the President of
Trinus Corporation, a business intelligence and data integration
solutions company that he founded in 1995, with locations in the US
and India. He is an active investor in India for over a decade,
investing in real estate projects and publicly-listed equities. He
is also an investor in technology startups in the US and a partner
in Venture Farm, LLC, an early stage execution and funding
organization.
Mr. Kucheria is President of The Indus
Entrepreneurs (TiE), Southern California; a Member of the Board of
the Society of Information Management (SIM), Southern California; a
member of the American India Foundation (AIF), Southern California;
and a regular guest speaker at USC’s Marshall School of Business.
Stephen Block
Partner,
Venture Farm LLC
Stephen A. Block is a member of the Tech
Coast Angel’s Board of Governors and a partner in Venture Farm, LLC,
an early-stage execution and funding organization. Mr. Block is a
member of the Board of Directors of Senomyx, Inc., a public biotech
company. Mr. Block retired as the Senior Vice President and General
Counsel of International Flavors & Fragrances in December 2003,
having served in that position for 12 years. He has 38 years of
broad legal, management and executive experience at Fortune 500
corporations and a major New York law firm. In addition to his legal
background, Mr. Block has had extensive experience in domestic and
international mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. He has
taught Securities Regulation at Pace University Law School and
lectured in continuing legal and business education programs. Mr.
Block holds a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and a B.A. degree
cum laude from Yale University.
Richard Cunningham
Vice President, Zip Zap
Richard Cunningham has worked in
the entertainment industry in both the US and Asia for the past 20
years. He recently returned to the US after spending over a decade
building MTV Network’s operations in Asia. As Senior Vice President,
he was responsible for several departments, including Licensing,
where he developed and launched the world’s first MTV-branded credit
card with Citibank in India. He also oversaw the four Nickelodeon
channels in Asia, including one dedicated to Indian children. He
negotiated numerous programming, syndication and sponsorship deals
within India, helping propel MTV Network’s Indian operation into one
of the most unique and successful in the world. He currently serves
as Vice President of Zip Zap, a new company creating a payment
solution for online transactions. Mr. Cunningham received a BA from
UCLA and MBA from USC.
Suman Naresh
CEO, International Strategy Group
Suman Naresh is the CEO of
International Strategy Group, LLC (“ISG”), a business consulting
company with offices in Los Angeles, New Orleans and Delhi. ISG
advises and executes on all aspects of international transactions,
but with special emphasis on finance, global sourcing and
intellectual property management. As part of its activities in the
area of global sourcing, ISG provides a complete range of legal
support services out of its Delhi office, to assist and support
corporate counsel and attorneys in the US and elsewhere. Prior to
the establishment of ISG, Mr. Naresh was Executive Director of
Hilborne, Hawkin & Co. taught law at Tulane University Law School,
the University of Chicago Law School, and Fitzwilliam and Christ’s
Colleges in the University of Cambridge in England; and practiced
commercial law at Gray’s Inn, London. Mr. Naresh received his
education at St. Stephen’s College Delhi, the London School of
Economics and Political Science, and the University of Cambridge.
Kevin Parikh
CEO & Partner, Stradling Global
Sourcing
Kevin Parikh is the CEO and Partner of
Stradling Global Sourcing (SGS). Prior to joining SGS, Mr. Parikh
led the Global Sourcing practice for Gartner Consulting. Mr. Parikh
specializes in IT and business process (BP) outsourcing contract and
service-level negotiations, strategic management, business risk
evaluation and software licensing. As an attorney by training, he
specializes in negotiating large and complex transactions where he
works toward bridging the gaps between legal counsel and business
team objectives. Over his career, Mr. Parikh has been involved in
more than 300 outsourcing deals. These transactions have ranged from
US$20 million to US$2.5 billion, involving major Tier 1 and Tier 2
service providers. Mr. Parikh received a bachelor's degree from the
UC Davis, in economics and political science and his J.D. from
American University. Mr. Parikh also completed his tenure as a
California Senate Fellow in 1993.
Utkarsh Rai
Head of India Operations, Infinera
Utkarsh Rai is the head of India
Operations for Infinera, which went public in June 2007. Mr. Rai
started his career in the late eighties as one of the first few
batches of IT professionals who joined Siemens in India. The team
formed a spin-off called Siemens Information Systems in India.
Utkarsh moved on to work with Adaptec in Silicon Valley, where he
was involved in a full-blown product development lifecycle. He later
joined the Global Software Group at Motorola in Bangalore. Mr. Rai
is an expert in the Indian Government's regulations and operational
compliance, and set up the new facility in line with the expansion
plan. All these experiences inspired Utkarsh to write a "Offshoring
Secrets," a book on managing operations in India, which he sees as a
great way to share his knowledge and experience with wider audience.
